Our teacher *sounds* boring, he has a monotonous voice and by his tone he's not saying anything interesting. But he's so funny and what he's teaching us [most of which comes directly from this book] is incredibly interesting and applicable to life. Photography is a seemingly new peice of technology [1950's and on it feels like] but it goes WAY back, and its pertinence to contemporary daily life with social media and the constant exposure to life through photos makes it an intersting subject to learn the history of and dissect and discuss. This book is a great and fun read and that's not always true for art history books [i've read lots]. there's a tone that isn't pretentious or uncolorful - each chapter, every passage, and every picture is rich with detail, background, insight, and sometimes even humour. I definitely recommend this book to any student, professor, or photography connoisseur.
